We advised an energy and commodities trading house on a Political Risk / CEND insurance claim in relation to the confiscation of its oil in Ukraine. The case involved a loss of USD10m to the trader when oil was seized from bonded tanks at a port in Ukraine.
We advised the client on insurance policy coverage issues focussing on both the CEND / Political Risk insurance policy and Marine Cargo insurance policy. Working in the background, drafting the appropriate correspondence and advising the client on strategy and its insurance coverage arguments we were able to secure a full insurance indemnity for the client.
